As part of its ongoing environmental sustainability efforts, the Water business of ACCIONA successfully conducted a beach cleanup event at two different locations in Doha on February 20, 2025. Employees from across various teams participated in these impactful initiatives, making a tangible contribution to protecting Qatar's natural environment.
Al Wakra Public Beach Cleanup
The first cleanup took place at Al Wakra Public Beach, where a team of 117 employees from the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team, alongside staff from the ACCIONA office, joined forces to address waste on the beach. The volunteers collected an impressive total of 53 bags of waste, weighing approximately 265kg. The waste comprised primarily plastic, wood, and general refuse, all of which were responsibly removed to ensure a cleaner and safer environment for both locals and visitors.
Ras Laffan Industrial City (Northern Beach) Cleanup
The second event was held at Ras Laffan Industrial City’s Northern Beach, with 85 participants from the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) team. The group collected 55 bags of waste, which weighed approximately 125kg. Much like the Al Wakra cleanup, the majority of the waste was plastic, wood, and general waste, highlighting the need for continued efforts to tackle pollution and preserve the pristine beauty of Qatar’s coastlines.
Both beach cleanups are part of ACCIONA’ s broader mission to promote environmental sustainability and raise awareness about waste management in the community. The company continues to play an active role in ensuring that environmental preservation is at the forefront of its operations, encouraging employees and partners to take part in these meaningful initiatives.
