About the Project

ACCIONA is delivering the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant, a major water infrastructure development that will strengthen long‑term water security for the region. The plant integrates advanced electrical, mechanical, and process systems to safely treat and distribute seawater. Our teams are focused on safe delivery, innovation, technical excellence, and sustainable outcomes that support essential community services.

About the Opportunity

The Project Engineer, Electrical (Commissioning) will lead and support the safe energisation, commissioning, and performance verification of electrical systems across the desalination plant. The role ensures correct installation, carries out electrical checks, verifies system functionality, and supports process and mechanical testing as systems transition toward operations.
Working closely with construction, process, mechanical, operations, and vendor teams, this position drives electrical readiness, resolves technical issues, and ensures commissioning activities comply with safety, quality, and industry standards.

What are the key accountabilities for the position?

-Develop and implement electrical commissioning plans, ITPs, and procedures
-Coordinate commissioning readiness with construction, operations, OEMs, and vendors
-Perform electrical checks including insulation resistance, continuity, MCC and switchboard verification
-Energise equipment safely and complete functional and performance testing
-Support process and mechanical commissioning teams during integrated testing
-Troubleshoot and resolve electrical faults with suppliers and specialist technicians
-Ensure compliance with electrical safety legislation, permits, and isolation procedures
-Clear electrical punch items and maintain accurate test records and reports
-Support training, documentation, and handover to operations

Required Skills and Competencies

-Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (required)
-Experience in electrical commissioning in heavy industry, water infrastructure, energy, or similar sectors
-Strong knowledge of LV and HV systems, motor control, instrumentation, and protection systems
-Ability to work effectively across electrical, mechanical, and process engineering teams
-Proven commitment to safe work practices and high-quality outcomes
