Community, sport and education groups have benefitted from a funding boost from ACCIONA, the developer of the proposed Mt Gellibrand wind farm.   

A total of twelve community groups in the region have shared in this year’s sponsorship pool of more than $17,000.  The funding was delivered through ACCIONA’s Mt Gellibrand wind farm community sponsorship program.

The sponsorship recipients include:

  • Anam Cara House Colac;
  • Beeac Rural Fire Brigade;
  • Birregurra and District Lions Club;
  • Birregurra Bowling Club;
  • Birregurra Festival and Art Show;
  • Birregurra Fire Brigade;
  • Birregurra Pre School;
  • Birregurra Primary School,
  • Colac Otway Sustainability Group;
  • Colac Pastoral and Agricultural Society;
  • Community Partnership Youthlink Team; and
  • Warrowie Recreation Reserve.

 

ACCIONA Senior Manager Iain Lawrie said ACCIONA received many good quality sponsorship applications this year.

“The Mt Gellibrand wind farm community sponsorship program is a way of ensuring the benefits of renewable energy projects are spread throughout rural and regional communities,” Mr Lawrie said.
